She is one of 10 students conducting research this year through the McNair Program, which provides undergraduate students with funds and resources for academic pursuits in their chosen fields of study.

Eli Adams '19 participated in Loyola University's Stritch School of Medicine ASPIRE program, specifically the HEAL module, which stands for Health Equity and Advocacy Leaders. HEAL is a weeklong experience dedicated to discussing health disparities in the US.

As a Mellon Fellow, Jonathan Damota '19 participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), a premedical enrichment program for underrepresented minorities in medicine. In the program, Damota shadowed health professionals, gained lab experience, and discussed the practices and ethics of various health fields.

Malik Hamilton '19 conducted his McNair research on the use of polarized light to create liquid crystals at room temperature. His research is part of the McNair Scholars program, which provides funds and resources for students to pursue academic projects in their chosen fields of study.

Knox College's Phelipe Graske garnered the league's Defensive Player of the Year award for the second-straight season. Joining him on the first team are Rocky Plaza and Lucas Sanchez. Alessandro Benelli earned Newcomer of the Year and a spot on the second team along with Erick Karkut.

The Midwest Conference (MWC) has announced the 2017 Football All-Conference Team on Wednesday. The Prairie Fire placed five players on the All-MWC team, including two first-teamers.

Jenna Milligan has garnered first team honors and was named the Defensive Player of the Year.. Yvette Rodriguez and Sierra Daniger also made the first team, while Kayla Brown, Angelica Gamez, and Corina Leyva earned a spot on the second team.

Knox College senior Cody Hipp will join a squad of 40 standout student-athletes from NCAA Division III schools to represent Team Stars & Stripes and travel to Mexico next week for the 20th annual Tazon De Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars).
