A group of Knox College students took part in Knox's London Arts Alive program, which offers a fall term class studying London's culture and arts and, during winter break, a trip to London for three weeks. The students who participated had one common reaction: "It was incredible."

Adeline Gomez '19 sought and found a service-oriented internship for the summer of 2017, when she interned at World Relief, an organization that provides aid to refugees all over the world.

Rebecca Katz '18 interned in the Czech Republic last summer at the Institute of Microbiology Academy of Sciences. She worked specifically at the Center for Nanobiology and Structural Biology, which helped her build essential skills for her career in chemistry.

Jarrelyn McCall was named second team all-Midwest Conference for the second straight year.

Yuuki Wittmer '18 conducted research on the liquid crystalline properties of copper with her Mellon Fellowship.

As a Mellon Fellow, Jonathan Damota '19 participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), a premedical enrichment program for underrepresented minorities in medicine. In the program, Damota shadowed health professionals, gained lab experience, and discussed the practices and ethics of various health fields.

Malik Hamilton '19 conducted his McNair research on the use of polarized light to create liquid crystals at room temperature. His research is part of the McNair Scholars program, which provides funds and resources for students to pursue academic projects in their chosen fields of study.

Deja Jenkins '19 uses a Mellon Foundation Grant to intern with NAEIR, a Galesburg-based nonprofit that offers discount supplies for other nonprofit organizations. Jenkins contributes to the marketing and media team.

Meghan Gaynor '19 is researching abuse, mental illness, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Erika Riley '19 used her Mellon Fellowship to intern with New York Spaces magazine in Manhattan. Riley is the current editor-in-cheif of The Knox Student and the internship is a step forward in her already impressive journalsim career.

Keara Crook '19 interned at an elephant tour site in Thailand, where she worked in elephant conservation. In addition to taking classes, she cared for an elephant named MeKeow and learned about the culture surrounding elephant care and elephant taxis.

Justin Bell '19 is one of 10 students who have been awarded a McNair Scholarship to pursue research in their chosen field of study. He is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and received an award for Rising Greek Leader of 2016. Bell volunteers for Blessings in a Backpack and the Huntsman Foundation. He works for the Association for Black Cultural Centers (ABCC).

Inspired by her brother with autism, Serena Dow '19 is researching chemicals that impact the sense of touch. Her project on the effect of oxytocin on tactile sensitivity in rats is part of her participation in the Knox College McNair Program, which provides undergraduate students with funds and opportunities to conduct research in their chosen fields of study.

The relationship between mental illness, psychological abuse, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Bloodroot as an alternative treatment to oral cancer in canines. The relationship between social isolation and drug craving. These are just a few of the topics students are researching through Knox College's McNair Scholars Program.

Nine members of the Prairie Fire cross country team competed in the NCAA Regional on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Knox College's Phelipe Graske garnered the league's Defensive Player of the Year award for the second-straight season. Joining him on the first team are Rocky Plaza and Lucas Sanchez. Alessandro Benelli earned Newcomer of the Year and a spot on the second team along with Erick Karkut.

The Midwest Conference (MWC) has announced the 2017 Football All-Conference Team on Wednesday. The Prairie Fire placed five players on the All-MWC team, including two first-teamers.
