One of eleven McNair scholars this year to conduct an original research project, Duke created and statistically validated a psychological measure. The project culminated in a presentation at a national conference in Buffalo, New York, and Tricia's paper on her research will appear in the 2019 Knox McNair Journal.

The McNair Scholar spoke with Salvadoran Americans about the continuing, violent effects of Cold War politics. She compiled her research into a presentation, which she gave at the McNair Conference in New York, and a paper, which will be published in the 2019 edition of the Knox McNair Journal.

After the trip, students come back to Knox to create artwork inspired by their experiences.

More than 30 Knox College students were elected recently to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. Knox's chapter is the fourth oldest in Illinois and the first at an exclusively undergraduate, four-year liberal arts college in the state.

GRINNELL, Iowa - Paul Sanders was named to the South Division All-Midwest Conference team on May 14. Sanders led all of Division III in steals per game while breaking the single season record in both the school and conference. His 38 steals also helped the Prairie Fire blow past the previous school record of 79 steals and finish with the number two mark in conference history (112). Sanders also broke the school career records in stolen bases (74) and runs scored (117).

The Knox College Athletics Department capped off the 2017-18 Prairie Fire sports season with the annual awards banquet to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievement, both on and off the field - or court. Members of the coaching staff announced the award recipients on May 16. Director of Athletics Daniella Irle said, "It is always a privilege to honor our most outstanding student-athletes as well as our seniors. They represent the college in such a powerful way and are deserving of the honors they received."

Eight students performed and eight students served on the managing crew for Knox Theatre's production of "The Learning Plays" by Bertold Brecht.

Swapnil Mishra '18 volunteered as a water field representative for Saha Global, a nonprofit organization, to establish a water treatment center in the rural community of Kpingiyili, Ghana.
