Knox College Announces New Vice President for Communications

by Mitch Prentice, Office of Communications Lead Writer/Editor

Galesburg, IL (01/19/2024) — Knox College is pleased to announce that Megan J. Scott '96 will join the College this winter to lead strategic communications efforts as vice president for communications. Scott previously served in this role from 2015-2018.

Scott has spent nearly her entire career supporting the goals and strategies of mission-driven organizations, including here at Knox and at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, where she oversaw the Office of Communications from 2018-2022. She has served as a member of two senior administrations and worked closely with presidents, vice presidents, and boards to support and promote the transformative power of a liberal arts education.

"I am excited to partner with Megan and welcome her back to Knox in this role. The skills and experiences she has developed over her extensive career in communications and marketing, and her love for Knox and Galesburg, make her an ideal partner for me, our senior team, and the entire Knox community at this moment." Knox College President C. Andrew McGadney said.

Scott has successfully demonstrated exceptional leadership, supporting fundraising campaigns and academic initiatives, spearheading two website redesigns, and overseeing the introduction of new athletics logos and mascots, as well as COVID-19 communications. She has consistently demonstrated her ability to drive strategic initiatives and enhance brand equity. Over the course of her career, Scott has received several awards, including the 2017 CASE Circle of Excellence Silver Award for Visual Identity Programs and the 2015 Pride of CASE V Gold Award for Admission Viewbook.

Most recently, Scott served as a senior marketing consultant at the award-winning marketing firm Blue Door Consulting, where she deepened her knowledge of digital and web communications and gained valuable experience building client relationships.

Scott graduated from Knox College magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and holds a certificate in publishing from the University of Denver Publishing Institute.

In her free time, she can be found cooking, traveling, playing games, and laughing with her family-husband Brian Tibbets '96, daughters Clara and Willa, and cat Junebug-and friends. A native of Galesburg, she is excited to visit her favorite shops and restaurants in the 'Burg, as well as discover new ones.

"The opportunity to return to my alma mater, a place that provided me with myriad opportunities to learn, grow, and challenge myself, is a true privilege," Scott said. "I look forward to putting the experiences and skills I've gained over the last five years to work at Knox, supporting President McGadney as he moves Knox into the future as an even stronger institution than it is today. I cannot wait to get started!"
