2017 Jul 27

Francis Miyata, a philosophy major at Knox College, was awarded two highly competitive scholarships that will help fund his study abroad in Japan during the 2017-18 academic year.

Miyata, who hails from Bolton, MA, is one of 168 students chosen nationally to receive a Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) scholarship. He also received a Bridging Project scholarship to assist with his travel and living expenses in Japan.

Miyata will attend Waseda University in Tokyo, one of Japan's premier universities, where he'll take classes with students from Japan and around the world at the School of International Liberal Studies.

At Knox College, about 50 percent of students participate in study abroad and off-campus programs at some point in their undergraduate education. Knox offers more than 90 different study abroad and off-campus programs for students to choose from.
